Lindt & Sprüngli is a Switzerland-based company specializing in chocolate and candy production and marketing. It was founded in 1845 by David Sprüngli-Schwarz and his son, Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann.
In 1998, the company bought the Ghirardelli chocolate brand and all of the assets of the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company. Since then, Lindt & Sprüngli has expanded the once-regional Ghirardelli to the international market.
Cafe
The world's first Lindt chocolate concept store and café opened in Sydney, Australia on 15 November 2004. Situated at 53 Martin Place in Sydney’s CBD, the Lindt café sells Lindt chocolates and a range of choclate-based foods, including cakes, ice-cream, pastries, special deserts and waffles. It was launched by the NSW Premier Bob Carr.
