Lili Wang (March 6 1971 - October 12 2002) was a graduate student at North Carolina State University murdered by another graduate student named Richard Anderson. On that day, Anderson shot and killed her while she was playing tennis. Anderson then turned the gun on himself and killed himself.
Anderson, who was 49 at the time, left a suicide note at the scene of the crime indicating that he was infatuated with Lili. According to Chunyü Fu, a graduate student who had known Anderson, Anderson said he "liked Asian women because they study hard, and they're very nice, soft speaking".
She was born in Beijing, China, and attended Shanghai Tiedao University before arriving in the United States with the intention of pursuing a master's degree at NCSU. Lili had been married to a man named Yufei Qian and there was no indication of a relationship between Lili and Anderson.
