Lejre

Lejre is a municipality in east Denmark, in the county of Roskilde on the peninsula of Zealand. The municipality covers an area of 88 km², and has a total population of 8,724 (2005).
It is home to the Lejre Experimental Centre, a centre for experimental archaeology and education. It is open to the public, and includes reconstructions and recreations from different periods of Denmark’s history, from pre-history to the time of the Vikings. The centre-piece is a reconstruction of an Iron Age village, complete with sacrificial bog.
