Legend of Hyrule
|
The Legend of Hyrule is the story of all of the games from the Legend of Zelda series taken in their entirety, though not all of the action takes place in Hyrule directly. Hyrule was created by three Goddesses, who are Din (Goddess of Power), Farore (Goddess of Courage), and Nayru (Goddess of Wisdom). They left behind the Triforce which can be broken into three pieces, one each for Wisdom, Courage, and Power. The Triforce embodies all of the magical power of Hyrule. Through time, the Hylian Royal Family used the Triforce as their claim to legitimate rule and the triangular object became the official crest of the kingdom. Over the years, the Triforce and its pieces have extanged between Link, Princess Zelda, and Ganon. Link, known as the Hero of Time, eventually leaves Hyrule after defeating Ganon in search of new adventure. However, Ganon reappears and his abuse of the Triforce of Power leads the Goddesses to destroy Hyrule by burying it under the sea. The people fled to mountain tops, which became islands, and over the centuries people forgot that Hyrule had existed at all. Though the Triforce's influence continues (in the adventure of the Hero of Wind, who is thought to be the Hero of Time reborn), the Great Flood marked the end of the Legend of Hyrule. The Legend of Zelda will continue, however, as long as the Triforce remains in existence.
