Laxå is a Municipality, in Örebro County, in central Sweden. The municipality covers an area of 576.7 km². Of the total population of 6699, 3399 are male, and 3300 are female. The population density of the community is 12 inhabitants per km².
The history of Laxå streches back to the 12th century, when a convent (Ramundeboda) was founded about 4 km west of the town. The modern town was founded in the mid-19th century when the railway between Gothenburg and Stockholm was built and is situated exactly 226 km from both cities.
Tiveden National Park is partly situated within the municipality.
