L'avventura (The Adventure) is an Italian film written and directed by Michelangelo Antonioni. Monica Vitti and Gabriele Ferzetti star.
Filmed and released in 1960, L'avventura won the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
The story begins with a group of rich young friends taking a boat trip to a sparsely populated volcanic island off the coast of Sicily. One of the women in the group wanders off and is not seen again. The remainder of the film concerns how her disappearance affects the remaining people in the group.
