Kriek
|
Kriek is a Belgian beer fermented with cherries. It usually uses a Flemish brown ale or a lambic as a base to which cherries are added. A lambic is a sour Belgian beer, fermented 'spontaneously' with airborne yeast native to Brussels. Kriek is particularly popular in Belgium and the Netherlands. Traditional kriek has a distinct sour fruity taste. Commercial variants usually contain juice instead of whole fruits, and are sweetened.
Framboise/Frambozen is a similar Belgian beer, fermented with raspberries.
