In the mythology of the Akan people of Ghana, including the Bono, Ashanti, Fanti and Sehwithe, the kra is the spirit or life force. An Akan conforms to the abusua of his mother, and receives the ntoro or kra from his father. These maternal and paternal bonds follow the Akan wherever he travels.
