Klin (Клин) is a town in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located 85 km to the northwest of Moscow. A highway from Moscow to St. Petersburg runs through the town.
Klin has been known since 1317. In 1482, it was incorporated into Muscovy with the rest of the Grand Princedom of Tver. Among several churches, the most noteworthy are the 16th-century church of the Dormition cloister and the baroque Resurrection cathedral (1712). The town is best known as the residence of Peter Tchaikovsky, whose house is open to visitors as a museum. It was here that the composer created his famous ballets The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker. There is a large beer factory, which produces "Klinskoe" beer. A local soccer team plays in the Moscow region league and is called "Khimik". Population is 94,000 (1985).
