KaraNet

KaraNet is the biggest Bulletin board system (BBS) in Austria. Originally established in 1994, the system as users knew it "died" on July 16, 2004 - after 10 years of serving 24/7 - due to hardware failure.

Afterwards, the development team decided to finally switch to a new BBS, called JKara. JKara is almost identical to the KaraNet system, but was completely rewritten from scratch in Java and becoming licensed as GPL.
