KFVE, also known by the brand K5 the Home Team, is the licensed broadcast affiliate of Warner Brothers Television Network in Hawaii. Based in Honolulu, KFVE first broadcast from channel 5 in 1984, owned and operated by another local station KHNL. It was the first such local market sharing organization in the country with KHNL becoming the first to own two stations. The station is currently owned by Raycom Media and has satellite feeds on all the major Hawaiian Islands to rebroadcast programs outside of metropolitan Honolulu.
Originally, KFVE aired as a free movie channel as well as a primary source for University of Hawaii at Manoa athletics. On January 16, 1995, KFVE became an affiliate of the United Paramount Network. On December 28, 1998, it became an affiliate of two networks with the addition of Warner Brothers programming. On September 2, 2002, KFVE dropped its affiliation with UPN and rebranded itself as K5 The Home Team Hawaii's WB. In 2004, it organized its own news staff to air the only news broadcast in the state at 9:00 in the evening.
