Jumbonet was the sole carrier of international Internet traffic to and from Kenya. Its monopoly partially ended on June 30, 2004 meaning the government is supposed to license other companies to compete with Jumbonet. The company currently (2004) uses four VSAT satellites to carry all the country's traffic.
Jumbonet is also a subsidiary of Telkom Kenya.
