Jeffrey is a common English name. It is most commonly spelled as Jeffrey, but sometimes spelled with one f as in Jefrey. The name Geoffrey is the precursor to Jeffrey, and Godfrey in turn a precursor to that. In the US the alternative Jeffery is sometimes used as a name.
Outside of the US Geoffrey is more commonly used than Jeffrey.
An approximate translation means, "God's peace" or "bringer of peace".
