Jan Myrdal (born July 19 1927) Swedish author, political writer and wine columnist.
Jan Myrdal got his breakthrough in 1963 with the book Report from a Chinese Village, a report from Mao-era China. He has continued his controversal defense of socialist countries up to today.
Myrdal's best-known works are his autobiographical works about his childhood and his conflicts with his authoritarian parents, the Swedish social democratic folk heroes Alva Myrdal and Gunnar Myrdal.
In 1974 Gunnar Myrdal and Hayek received the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel
In 1982 Alva Myrdal shared The Nobel Peace Prize with Alfonso García Robles
