Iwo is a city in Osun State, Nigeria.It was formerly in Oyo State.It is situated between Ibadan - the capital of Oyo State (at at 2005) and Osogbo - the capital of Osun State.
It is predominantly a moslem community but over a period of years - in the last decade, christanity has swept through the city. Among the major secondary schools there are Iwo Grammar School, United Methodist High School,Baptist High School, St. Mary's High school, Baptisit Grammer School, LA Secondary School, e.t.c.
There used to be a Baptist Teachers Training College located at Oke Odo,Iwo.The same has eventually been used as the current campus of Bowen University Iwo. The population of Iwo city is 417,563. Most people that live in Iwo are Yoruba.
