Imam Al-Ghazali

Imam Al-Ghazali was a Persian Islamic Philosopher. He wrote "The Incoherence of the Philosophers" in which he attacked fellow philosopher Ibn Rushd.
He followed sufism, but the sunni mainstream Islamic kind and not the invocations of the sufi sect. He also wrote "Ihya Illum id Din", or "On the Sciences of Religion".
He lived in the middle ages, Europeans used parts of his philosophy to argue for the existence of God.
