This map is questionable. Did Qing really control Yunnan? The map of Qin at 中国历史地图集 by 谭其骧 and others also includes Yunnan, but I don't know whether it is on firm ground or not. One thing I know is that Qin did not set up any commandery there. --Nanshu 23:04, 20 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- I'm curious about its origin. Did you create the map? Otherwise, where was it taken from? I want to make a historical map based on comparison data, so I look for good materials. --Nanshu
- I didn't create the map; I uploaded it from some website on historical lectures. Actually I have doubts about the copyright after I uploaded it; as a result I didn't use it.
- I'm not a history student; but you can check those details out.
- It seems that Qin did set up a Wuchidao (五尺道) road to Yunnan and send officials there. Mandel 09:50, 21 May 2004 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. I reget this map has a potential copyright problem.
As far as I know, 五尺道 first appeared in 史記, but it is 舊唐書 that said "置吏" for the first time. Anyway, it is hard to say Qin ruled Yunnan to the degree that Yunnan was part of Qin. All non-Chinese maps I checked exclude Yunnnan. And apparently 中国历史地图集 has trouble in the treatment of borderlands. Its Yuan map extends to the northward to the Arctic Ocean! --Nanshu 04:04, 23 May 2004 (UTC)
