3D computer model of the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) outside view. The observatory will have the biggest telescope in the southern hemisphere of the Earth — from where galaxies can be viewed which cannot be seen up north. SALT will probe quasars and enable scientists to view stars and galaxies a billion times too faint to be visible to the naked eye.
