A sample diploma awarded to a winner of the republican round of annual student Olypmiad in Kazakhstan (then part of USSR) in 1989. On the top right corner the script is in Kazakh and Russian languages, it quotes the most popular slogan of Communist_Party "Proletarians of all countries, unite!". The icon with Vladimir_Lenin's image is VLKSM's trademark. In the center of the diploma, two title lines in Kazakh and Russian mean "Honor Diploma". The following two lines are in Russian, "Central Committee of LKSM of Kazakhstan awards". Here, LKSM of Kazakhstan refers to Komsomol organization of Kazakhstan. Actually, Komsomol had nothing to with the contest itself. It's just everything related to youth in USSR was supposed to be overseen by this organization, therefore all award diplomas had Komsomol mentioned one way or another. Five lines typed below are also in Russian saying "second year student STUDENT-NAME from UNIVERSITY-NAME state university for winning in Republican round of All-Union Olympiad 'Student and NTP' on 'PHYSICS' subject". Here, NTP is an abbreviation for scientific-technical progress. Finally, on the bottom of the diploma there's a stamp of a host university and a signature of the chairman of Olympiad's judges.
