Label of a Columbia Records 78 record label from 1925. The tune is "The St. Louis Blues", the composer is W.C. Handy and the artist is singer Bessie Smith. The label mentions "Organ and cornet accompanyment"; the uncredited accompaniests are Fred Longshaw (actually playing harmonium) and Louis Armstrong on cornet.
The record number is 14064-D (seen in the lower left of the label); those wishing to order copies of this record could do so by that number.
The number in the lower right hand corner, "140241" refers to the master this particular side of the record was pressed from and was originally intended to be useful only for technicians within the company. However such numbers have proved useful for record collectors for establishing such details as when and where the original performance was recorded; in this case on 14 January, 1925 in Columbia's main recording studio in New York City.
