Itochu (OTC:ITOCY)formerly C.ITOCHU is a japanese general trading (sogo shosha)concern based in Osaka, Japan, ITOCHU (In Kanji: 伊藤忠) was founded in 1958 by Chubei Ito. It was initially a kimono fabric retail store. It is one of the world largest trading companies and using pro-forma accounting one of the worlds largest corporations.
Gradually ITOCHU business evolved from pure buying and selling to manufacturing, supplying, exporting and even investment, after separations and merges with other companies it was incorporated in 1949 and it is the largest general trading company (Sogo Shosha) in Japan and ranks among the world’s largest companies with 1,027 subsidiaries and associated companies operating in over 80 countries. ITOCHU is based in Chuo-ku, Osaka, Osaka prefecture and Minato-ku, Tokyo.
Itochu currently has seven major divisions or business groups, listed below:

- foods,grain and canned goods (accounting for nearly 25% of revenue)
- aerospace
- electronics and multimedia
- financial, realty insurance and merchandise services, such as foreign exchange and leasing
