ISO 8859-12

ISO 8859-12 does not exist as part of the ISO 8859 standard.
Why this number was omitted gave raise to curious question and speculation. According to sources below, the number 8859-12 was temporarily used for two different proposals.
- An inoffical draft of Celtic. This was later encoded as ISO 8859-14.
- A draft for Devanagari (or entire ISCII, sources differ), which wasn't finalized for unknown reasons.
