Hyperwarp 6D
|
Hyperwarp 6D (or H6D, for short) is a new theoretical model for the structure and behavior of spacetime, proposed by Peter Carroll, a founder of the Illuminates of Thanateros. This theory is an attempt by Carroll and others to generate meaningful and scientifically sound models to understand the nature of time and its relation to space, as well as the origins of the universe. Formulated by Carroll at least partly during his work as a chaos magician, the theory is highly speculative. Peter Carroll has since severed many ties to occultism, in order to focus more on the development of this scientific theory, and so that the theory will not be regarded immediately as "unscientific" by the exclusive and rigid scientific community.

The Multi-dimensional Structure of Spacetime
In H6D, time is proposed as having three dimensions of orientation. As our motion through those dimensions is a function of perception and consciousness more so than it is a physical motion, the exact nature of the other dimensions of time are difficult to define. Among other hypotheses, some scientists suggest that a three-dimensional structure of time gives quantum events a non-causal and non-linear "grid" in which to occur, alleviating some of the "quantum weirdness" and "spooky action at a distance" noticed by many critics of the quantum model of physics, Albert Einstein, and the formation of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox being an example. A multi-dimensional time structure also offers a sound model for the origin of the universe, in that it frees the model of any spontaneous, or inexplicable acausal events, such as the Big Bang. The H6D model attempts to do away with mathematically-derived theoretical events, such as black holes, white holes, and worm holes. Carroll describes the universe as being "finite, but unbounded" in structure, and that current interpretations of data that suggest an expansionist cosmogensis theory, are simply misinterpretations, and that the universe is neither expanding, nor infinite in reality or potential of size or mass. In this respect, the H6D model does away with the necessity of "dark matter" as an explanation for the apparent formation of the universe from nothing. A simple illustration of the concept of a finite but unbounded universe is a sphere. Standing on the surface of a sphere (the Earth, for instance) an object can move in a single direction infinitely, and yet the sphere has a finite size and mass. Carrol suggests that if an object were to move in a single direction for a long enough time, it would ultimately reach its starting point. Traveling by these means, an object is still limited to the velocity of electromagnetic radiation, the speed of light, or the 'c' in <math>E = mc^2<math>. Another way of understanding the spacial H6D model is that there is a defined maximum distance between any two things (the term "things" being used, as opposed to points, in part because the theory hopes to do away somewhat with outdated Euclidean, Aristotelian, or Newtonian terminology). The same can be said of the dimensions of time, that is, no two things can be separated by more than a finite amount of time. Time, as a function of matter, folds in on itself, and so traveling far enough in any specific direction of time (there is an entire multi-dimensional timespace to move through, contrary to the linear way in which we perceive time normally) will eventually lead one back to their original starting point, in the timespace grid.
Points of Contention With Traditional Physical Models
The Origins of The Universe
Because the three-dimensional structure of time allows the existence of multiple quantum eigenstates simultaneously and provides a scientific basis for non-linearity, H6D provides many intriguing answers to conundrums of physics often considered impenetrable. For instance, the Big Bang theory suggest that the universe sprang from either a zero-sized singularity of infinite density or from a quantum-sized event of near infinite density. This is the "egg" of the Which-came-first discussion that has been pondered since the theory was first proposed. No coherent explanation has been proposed by standard cosmogenesis models for the existence of this (predominantly mathematical) event. The H6D model, however, presents a simple solution: that since time in unbounded there is no need for the universe to have begun at all. The universe as we know it exists in a specific position in a self-enfolding, finite timespace structure.
Singularities and other Mathematically-derived Events
While H6D does not eschew mathematics as a useful tool for modeling and measuring phenomena, an effort is made to resist the creation of exotic and poorly defined structures, purely to satisfy mathematical predictions. A singularity, for instance, is the physical analog of a point in Euclidean geometry. In a philosophical sense, a singularity can be viewed as an object with the smallest possible dimensions. A singularity is essentially the microscopic counterpart of an expanding universe, in essence a way of making infinite concepts conceivable to the finite human mind. In H6D, there are no singularities, nor any need to define infinity as a counter-intuitve and finite concept. Dark matter is suggested by standard astrophysical to comprise the majority of matter in the universe, and yet eludes any direct detection. The theory of dark matter was created as an attempt to explain how the universe could arise out of nothing (as a linear time structure requires). Standard models suggest that dark matter eliminates completely with normal matter, releasing immense amounts of energy and that enough dark matter exists to "cancel out" every atom of normal matter that exists. Since H6D is not limited by adherence to a linear and causal timespace structure and does not require an infinite amount of matter/dark matter, there is no need to explain an ex nihilo origin of the universe.
"Spooky action at a distance"
A common objection to quantum theory is the apparent inseparability of sub-atomic particles by distance. In short, information appears to travel instantly in such a way that is not allowed by most standard models of physics. If, however, the transfer of sub-atomic particles and information through orthogonal time dimensions is permitted, as in H6D, then inseparability is facilitated quite nicely. According to H6D, quantum inseparability is not "spooky" in the least bit, it is an example of a particle or quanta of data small enough to take the route of least resistance, that is, travelling through multiple time dimensions.
Technological Implications
Faster-than-light Travel
Given three degrees of freedom, a body is limited in motion to a speed approaching, but not meeting or exceeding, the speed of light. This concept is well-researched and it is generally accepted that no form of normal propulsion will allow travel to distant parts of the galaxy or universe within a normal human timescale. Having six degrees of freedom, however, would allow a ship to travel simultaneously through a three-dimensional space structure, and a three-dimensional time structure, thus requiring very little time to cross huge distances. A spacecraft capable of 6D movement would be capable of arriving at a destination nearly instantly by traveling through time, as well as space. Specifics as to the method of traveling through the thus far inaccessible dimensions of time are sparse and dubious, but the concept is allowed by the H6D theory.
Time Travel
H6D suggests that motion through time is not continuous or linear, and that travel through the multiple dimensions of time may be controllable by some means. Once again, details of the method for doing this have yet to be developed, but such movement is allowed by the theory. Movement through time in this manner could shed light on the nature of such ontological "absolutes" as cause and effect.
Parallel Dimensions
A 6-dimensional timespace structure gives a way to define and plot variant quantum eigenstates. Travel from one timeline to another, in which one or more sub-atomic eigenstates are different, may be possible. The exact nature of these parallel realities, in which quantum events were observed to be different, could range anywhere from the displacement of a single sub-atomic particle, to wildly different cohesive reality. Though only speculation, a theoretical basis for this has been presented in the H6D hypothesis.
