Hume Township is a township in Huron County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 801.
The village of Kinde is at the southeast corner of the township, though none of it is within the township.
Point Crescent State Park is in the township at the mouth of the Pinnebog River on Lake Huron.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 77.8 km² (30.0 mi²). 77.8 km² (30.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.10% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 801 people, 369 households, and 232 families residing in the township. The population density is 10.3/km² (26.7/mi²). There are 853 housing units at an average density of 11.0/km² (28.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.50% White, 0.00% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.12% from two or more races. 0.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 369 households out of which 22.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.1% are married couples living together, 4.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.9% are non-families. 32.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.17 and the average family size is 2.76.
