Holborn Viaduct
|
The Holborn Viaduct is a bridge linking Holborn with Newgate Street in the City of London, passing over Farringdon Street. It was built in the 1860s, and cost over two million pounds to complete. It spanned the steep-sided Holborn Hill and over the River Fleet. City Surveyor William Heywood was the architect, and took 6 years to complete.
Nearby was the Holborn Viaduct station, now replaced by the City Thameslink station.
