Himyar

Himyar was a state in ancient Yemen dating from 115 BCE. Conquered neighbouring Saba in 25 BCE, Qataban in 50 CE and Hadramaut 100 CE. It was the dominant state in Arabia until the sixth century. Economy was based on the export of frankincense and myrrh. Dhu Nuwas was the last Tubba Himyarite king and after accepting Judaism inflicted a genocide upon the Christians by burning. The genocide lead to foreign invation and the subsiding of the Himyarites for 8 years. A cooperative coalition of Yemeni & Persian forces of Dailam ousted the foreign invaders. The new Himyarite king and Persians soon after accepted Islam.
