Helsinki-86 was a human rights group in Latvia formed in July 1986 in Liepaja.
On June 14, 1987, the group organised a ceremony of placing flowers at the Freedom Monument in Riga. This event demonstrated the rebirth of national courage and self-confidence in Latvia.
On August 23, 1987, the group organised a protest demonstration against the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact (which lead to the Soviet occupation of Latvia in 1940). On November 18, 1987 it illegally celebrated Latvian independence day.
As a political party, it unsuccessfully competed in Latvian parliamentary election, 1998.
In 2003 it transformed into a new nationalistic political party - National Power Unity.lv:Helsinki-86
