Harry Kim is a character in the fictional Star Trek universe, played by Garrett Wang, who served aboard the Starship Voyager, with the rank of Ensign, on Star Trek: Voyager.

Harry Kim was born on 2349, the same year as Wesley Crusher, notes the Star Trek: Chronology by Michael and Denise Okuda. He played clarinet in the Juilliard Youth Symphony and had a girlfriend named Libby. After graduating from Starfleet Academy in 2370, he was assigned to Voyager in 2371, which was subsequently stranded in the Delta Quadrant. He was perhaps the crew member most eager to get home. In 2372, the entire ship was duplicated in a phenomenon that duplicated matter but not antimatter. The Ensign Kim and the baby Naomi Wildman from the original ship died, but were replaced with the duplicates from the other ship. Kim was troubled by this for a while. In an alternate timeline, Chakotay and Kim piloted the Delta Flyer ahead of Voyager in an experimental method of travel, known as Quantum Slipstream, intended to get Voyager home sooner. However, Kim transmitted incorrect phase corrections to Voyager which ultimately caused it to crash land on an icy planet just short of the Alpha Quadrant. Kim and Chakotay studied the mistake for fifteen years, then sent a message back in time using a Borg temporal transceiver that contained phase corrections that would completely disperse the slipstream but keep Voyager and the Delta Flyer intact, but in the Delta Quadrant.

An early draft of the Doctor's holonovel Photons Be Free contained a character that was almost the same as Kim, but was a Trill and a hypochondriac.

Kim was an ensign through all seven seasons of Voyager, but in an alternate future shown in the final episode "Endgame", he was captain of the USS Rhode Island in 2404. However, Ensign Kim was given the status of acting captain in the episode entited "Nightingale"', whilst trying to deliver medical supplies (which didn't turn out to be the case) to a planet.

Due to the fact Harry Kim is always nominated for dangerous away missions, he is very much the "Redshirt" character on VOY. However, unlike the famous characters of the original series of Star Trek, he doesn't actually die in the process. The character, portrayed as young and inexperienced, has on many occasions shown this side of himself, leading to many subtle comedic moments.
