Hammarö is a municipality in Värmland County, in west central Sweden. The municipality covers an area of 56.6 km². Of the total population of 14,162, 7,113 are male, and 7,049 are female. The population density of the community is 250 inhabitants per km². The municipal seat is located in Skoghall.
Geography
The municipality is made up by the island of Hammarön and its archipelago. At 47 km² Hammarön is the third largest island in lake Vänern. It is located off the shore of Wermelandia with the Klarälven delta. The name Hammarö, or Hammarön, literally means "Hammer Island".
