Haddon Sundblom

Haddon Hubert "Sunny" Sundblom (June 22, 1899 - 1976) was a United States artist who created the modern image of Santa Claus in 1931 while working for Coca Cola. He modelled Santa Claus after the Nordic tomte tradition. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan to a Swedish-speaking family, his father Karl Wilhelm Sundblom came from Föglö of the ethnically Swedish Åland Islands, then part of the Russian Grand Duchy of Finland, and his mother Karin Andersson was from Sweden.
