HMCS Protector

Two ships of the Royal Australian Navy have been named Protector.
The first HMAS Protector was a light cruiser laid down by William Armstrong and Company at Newcastle-on-Tyne for the South Australian Government and launched 27 December 1883. She was transferred to the Commonwealth Naval Force and commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy 1 July 1911. HMAS Protector paid off 1 April 1921 and was renamed HMAS Cerberus as name ship to Flinders Naval Depot in Victoria, paid off for disposal 6 June 1924 and was sold 10 October 1924.
