HMAS Dubbo

Two vessels of the Royal Australian Navy have borne the name Dubbo, for a town in New South Wales.
The first HMAS Dubbo (J-251/M-251) was a Bathurst class corvette built by Morts Dock and Engineering at Balmain in New South Wales, launched on 7 March 1942 by Mrs. B. B. Scrisier, Mayoress of Dubbo, and commissioned on 31 July 1942. HMAS Dubbo paid off to reserve on 7 February 1947, was sold for scrap to Mitsubishi Shoji Kaisha of Tokyo on 20 February 1958, and towed to Japan.
The second HMAS Dubbo (P-214) is a Fremantle class patrol boat laid down by North Queensland Engineers and Agents at Cairns in Queensland on 9 August 1982, launched on 21 January 1984 in the presence of Thomas Arthur Slattery and Mrs Joan Slattery, then Mayor and Mayoress of Dubbo and commissioned on 10 March 1984.
