Höllviken is a town in Scania, in southernmost Sweden, situated close to both Malmö and the Oresund Bridge which connects Sweden to Denmark. As such, the community functions as a suburb to both Copenhagen and Malmö. The population is approximately 9,500.
The town is a popular summer vacation spot for northern Europeans, who are attracted to its sand beaches and the to the historical sites which date back to the time of the Vikings. The peninsula is unique because it is surrounded by two different seas. To the west is the Öresund Strait and to the east is the Baltic Sea. It is mainly vegetated by pine trees that were planted in the 1800s to prevent the sand from consuming the town.
Prior to the 1960s, the peninsula remained mainly populated by wealthy businessmen from the Malmö region during the summers. Recently, however, it has begun to grow as a commuter town.
