Glenn Miller Orchestra
|
After the tragic death of Glenn Miller in 1944, his orchestra was reconstituted under the direction of Tex Beneke; a tenor sax, singer, and Miller's close friend for a long time. A few years later, the Miller estate, having parted ways with Beneke, hired Ray McKinley --another former member of the Miller band--, to organize a new ghost band in 1956.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra continued to record and perform under various leaders from then on.
