Congressman Jerry Kleczka
Gerald (Jerry) Daniel Kleczka (born November 26, 1943), Polish-American politician, has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1985, representing the Fourth Congressional District of Wisconsin, including the city of Milwaukee, where he was born.
He served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1969 to 1974 and the Wisconsin State Senate from 1975 to 1984, when he was elected to the House following the death of Representative Clement Zablocki.
Kleczka announced his retirement in 2004, and did not run for reelection. He will officially retire in January 2005 after 10 terms in Congress. He will be succeeded by Representative-elect Gwen Moore, a Democrat.
