Gavin Turk
|
Gavin Turk (born 1967) is a British artist.
Born in Guildford, near London, Turk graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1991. His final degree graduation exhibition brought him notoriety and made him something of an art world star; he exhibited 'Cave', a whitewashed studio space containing only a heritage plaque which stated that he had worked there. The college tutors refused him his degree because of this.
Turk's work is collected by Charles Saatchi and he is considered part of the Young British Artists generation.
