Gantz is one of the most popular mangas run by Weekly Young Jump, a Japanese magazine.
The story starts off when Kurono, an ordinary high school student, was caught up in a trouble and was accidentally hit by a train with his classmate, Katou. They ought to be dead, but found themselves in a mysterious apartment the next moment; there the two find few other dead people and a huge black ball, an artificial intelligence named Gantz. Gantz ordered the dead people to play a virtual game; the more aliens they kill, the more score they will gain. The first one to reach one thousand points will be brought back to life. Without learning other details, Kurono and others were transported to a virtual city of Tokyo by the black ball to "play" the game against aliens, the so-called "Negi-seijin".
