Gaita

Gaita is the Spanish and Portuguese name for the bagpipe used in Galicia, Asturias and northern Portugal. It has a conical chanter with a second octave. Spanish pipe bands playing these instruments have become popular in recent years.
Gaita is also a musical style that originated in the region surrounding Maracaibo in Venezuela. Originally associated with Christmas, it is a festive rhythm now played throughout the year.
