Freedom for Animals
|
Freedom for Animals (FFA) is a Toronto-based animal rights group founded in the 1990s by activists Susan Krajnc and Suzanne Lahaie.
The group is strongly abolitionist, advocating the end of animal use rather than reform.
Campaigns include: the Kensington cat cruelty video case, Boycott the Bay (until they stop selling fur), and University of Torture (about animal research at the University of Toronto). FFA has also protested at rodeos, circuses, the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, etc.
In 2004, FFA is urging a boycott of the Toronto International Film Festival, after the festival refused to withdraw a film, Casuistry: The Art of Killing a Cat, from their line-up. FFA objects to giving the cat torturers Jesse Power, Anthony Wennekers, and Matt Kaczorowski yet another platform to make excuses for what FFA considers to be their inexcusable actions.
FFA also operates the Kensington Market Stray Cat Rescue.
