Federal Trade Commission Act
|
The Federal Trade Commission Act of 1914 established a bipartisan body of five members appointed by the President of the United States for seven year terms. This Federal Trade Commission was authorized to issue Cease and Desist orders to large corporations to curb unfair trade practices.
It was part of Woodrow Wilsons progressive reform. Instead of passing a bill for every identified bad practice, Wilson formed this commission to enable the state to take action faster.
