Fairfield, Victoria
|
Fairfield is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is shared across the Local Government Area of the City of Yarra and the City of Darebin. Because it is situated on what many regard as the fringes of Melbourne's popular and much-revived 'inner city', gentrification has been strong, and property prices are high. Fairfield's commercial outlets have prospered in recent years, with a recent influx of cafes, bars and specialist shops to Station Street, the commercial hub. To the south is the Yarra river and surrounding parkland, and the much-admired Fairfield Boathouse.
It is served by an efficient train service to central Melbourne.
