Fabian Núñez (D- 46th District) is the Speaker of the California State Assembly, in the USA. First elected to the Assembly in 2002, Núñez was sworn in as the State's 66th Speaker on February 9, 2004.
Prior to being elected to the Assembly, from 2000 to 2002, Núñez was government affairs director for the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he secured millions in funding for low-performing schools, school construction and health insurance for children.
Earlier, from 1996 to 2000, he served as political director for the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor.
Speaker Núñez, 37, earned bachelor of arts degrees in political science and education from Pitzer College in Claremont. He resides in downtown Los Angeles and has three children.
