Estado Novo (Brazil)
|
The “New State” is a new type of government where all legislative bodies vanished, political parties were banned, and all kinds of media were censored. This Estado Novo was put into place by Brazilian President Getúlio Vargas in 1937. The “New State” was a strong nationalist movement which celebrated the racial mixing of the Brazilian people and even Brazil’s strong African heritage. In dealing with the economy, the “New State” opened the doors to allow Brazil to further the nation’s goals and welfares.
