Education City is an area in Qatar near the capital city of Doha that, with funding from a nonprofit group, has been set aside for the establishment of branch campuses of several American Universities, as well as several local educational and research organizations.
Branch campuses include:
- Georgetown University - Overseas branch of School of Foreign Service
- Carnegie Mellon University - Offers business and computer science programs
- Virginia Commonwealth University - Offers arts and communications programs
- Cornell University - Offers a medical school
- Texas A&M University - Offers an engineering program
Local programs include:
- Academic Bridge Program - University-preperation school
- Qatar Academy - A school offering a British-style primary education
- Qatar Diabetes Association - Serves public health and does research on Diabetes
- Social Development Center - Aims to promote income equality
