Edmonton International Airport is the 5th busiest airport in Canada by passenger traffic, and the 13 busiest by aircraft movements.. It is the primary air passenger and air cargo facility in Edmonton, Alberta and a major hub facility for Northern Alberta and Canada's Northern Territories. It served 4.1 million passengers in 2004. It is operated by the Edmonton Airports Authority and uses the IATA Airport Code YEG. Originally constructed in 1960, the airport has undergone a C$350 million renovation and expansion programme from 1996-2004 which included the construction of a new terminal, a multi-level parking facility, central hall, commuter facility and a doubling of the aircraft apron. Future plans include the development of an in-terminal hotel, expansion of the parking facility and renovation of the original terminal.
