Douglas Lain (born 1970) is a science fiction writer who has been compared to Philip K. Dick.
Publishing mostly in genre magazines, Lain's stories and novellas might be called interstitial or "Slipstream" (a term invented by the Cyberpunk author Bruce Sterling). His story "Identity is a Construct" is perhaps his most widely read work.
Lain is also known as the co-author of the Artists and Writers Petition Against the War on Iraq and for organizing protests against the Patriot Act and the bombing of Afghanistan.
