Spanning an area of 24.7 square kilometres, and home to 600,000 inhabitants, Beijing's Dongcheng District (Simplified Chinese: 东城区, Hanyu Pinyin: Dōngchéng Qū, English translation: East City District) covers some relatively important parts of Beijing. Wangfujing and Dongdan, as well as the Beijing Railway Station, the Eastern Chang'an Avenue, and the northeastern stretch of the 2nd Ring Road all belong to its jurisdiction.
It is the second largest district in the area of the old city (which is inside the 2nd Ring Road) and has the postal code 100010.
Other significant locations include the Forbidden City and Tian'anmen Square, Zhongshan Park, the National Museum, and Ditan Park, just to name a few.
