Dirck van Baburen (1595 — 1624) was a Dutch Baroque painter
Van Baburen was born and died in Utrecht. He was also known as Teodoer van Baburen and Theodor Baburen.
Van Baburen spent several years in Rome, where he was influenced by the works of the recently deceased Caravaggio. He and other Dutch painters exported this style back to their home country, which led to the so-called Utrecht School. His career being very short, only a few of his paintings survive Template:Ref.
Some of these are:
- Deposition (in the San Pietro in Montorio, Rome)
- Prometheus Being Chained by Vulcan, 1623
- The Procuress, 1622 (Boston Museum of Fine Arts)
