Defense of property
|
The defense of property is a possible justification for breaking the law. Defendants who use this defense are arguing that they should not be held liable for a crime, since the action taken was intended to protect the defendant's property. Courts have generally ruled that "deadly force" is generally not acceptable in defending property, although it may be acceptable in self-defense or in some areas the defense of ones home. As deadly force is not allowed, the setting of booby-traps is also not allowed.
