Decatur Island

Decatur Island is one of the San Juan Islands in Washington state, USA, located just east of Lopez Island across Lopez Sound. Named for Stephen Decatur, it is 3.6 square miles (9 km²) in area.
There is no Washington State Ferries service to Decatur; access is by boat or plane. West Isle Air and Paraclete Charter Service provide service to Decatur from Anacortes via air and private ferry. There are no public facilities other than one public boat ramp.
In addition to the three private communities on Decatur (Decatur Northwest, Decatur Shores, and Decatur Head), there are about 60 full-time residents, served by one general store and a school for first through eighth graders.
